SOMETHING IS HAPPENING!

About Kashmir Songs

Kashmir Songs is a celebration of the Kashmir Valley’s poetic and musical legacy, a living tradition where spirituality, romance, and resistance come together through verse and melody.

The journey begins with Lal Ded and Sheikh Noor-ud-din Noorani (Nund Rishi) in the 14th century. Lal Ded’s Vakhs speak of inner realization, while Nund Rishi’s shruks laid the foundation of the Rishi Sufi tradition, blending Sufi wisdom with native spirituality. In the 17th century, Ghani Kashmiri elevated Kashmiri and Persian poetry to new intellectual heights through his refined metaphysical style.

Mystic poets like Abdul Wahab Khar, Soch Kral, Nyama Saeb, Samad Mir, and Ahmad Batwari continued the Sufi tradition, combining divine longing with folk simplicity.

The emotional and romantic spirit of the land was beautifully captured by Habba Khatoon and Rasul Mir, while the 20th century brought visionary reformers like Mahjoor, Abdul Ahad Azad, Amin Kamil, and Ghulam Nabi Khayal, who infused poetry with patriotism, social justice, and cultural renewal.

Their voices live on through iconic singers like Raj Begum, Ghulam Ahmad Sofi, Kailash Mehra Sadhu, Abdul Rashid Hafiz, and many others.

Kashmir Songs preserves this sacred harmony where verse becomes voice, and heritage becomes song.
